After viewing an advertisement on Facebook, sophomore Surya Kasibhatla got chosen to speak about his story on the well-known media organization, TED Talk. He drove down to Southlake to give a speech regarding hope.
Kasibhatla revealed to hundreds of people how he pursued what he wanted to do. The first thing he had to do was to overcome his physical limitations of having cerebral palsy.
“It’s a great feeling because that’s the whole purpose right? The whole purpose was to inspire people, and leave an impact,” Kasibhatla said. “You can always do what you want to do, and you should never give up.”
One English teacher, Sandy Avila, shows her students TED Talk videos for life encouragement. She was thrilled to hear that one of her students had been given the opportunity to talk on his chosen topic.
“I feel like he can serve as an inspiration to others because sometimes we can complain about trivial things,” Avila said. “He’s just always positive and he just always brings a strong work ethic to not only the classroom, but I feel like just anywhere he goes.”
In order for her students to gain more knowledge from Kasibhatla, Avila expresses her gratitude to him.
“I feel honored as a teacher to have him in my class because he can inspire people not just in my classroom now or in the school, but also for the community and the entire country,” Avila said.
Kasibhatla inspired the community with his talk on hope, but he also inspired his fellow classmates and teachers all around him. He proved that nothing can prevent someone from doing what they want. Kasibhatla also utilizes other social media sites, like YouTube, to openly express himself to others.
“The only thing I really want to say is my topic which is hope, and I think hope is a really great message on how we can face our troubles, and I think everyone should know what it is,” Kasibhatla said.
