Seniors Caleb Zavala and Mateo Cabrera celebrate after Cabrera scores a goal. "It felt really good," Cabrera said, "especially [my last] goal; I remember it kind of sealed the deal, since we were losing 3-2, and the score after it was 3-3." Rock Hill eventually lost in the penalty shootout.

Sophomore forward Caleb Pak keeps focus on the ball as the game progresses. "We put up a hard fight," Pak said. "We started slow, but kept on upping our intensity. We did have a chance to win."

Senior midfielder Jake Loertscher closely follows a Braswell player with possession. "It was an intense game," Loertscher said. "We kept the pressure high for most of the second half, allowing us to tie the game in the last 17 seconds."

Sophomore Ethan Johnson attempts to stall as Braswell dribbles the ball toward the opposing goal. "I haven't played with my team too much so we didn't have the best team chemistry," Johnson said. "That was a challenge, but we have a lot of talent that's hopefully going to come together to make a run at playoffs."

Senior Jake Loertscher tackles with his opponent as he drives the ball across. "My role was to try and keep possession, to win the ball in the middle of the field to ensure we had more chances on a goal," Loertscher said.

Lois Brooks drives bus number 90 to park at Rock Hill’s front entrance. “I found my niche in life…I can talk and be friendly with everybody,” Brooks said. Brooks has been a bus driver for about 22 years.

Balloons are inflated and hung in the school library to spell out “Ramadan Mubarak,” a traditional greeting among Muslims for the month of Ramadan. “We're putting up decorations for Ramadan," freshman Warisha Ali said. "Maybe some lanterns, maybe some lights. We might also hold some crafts events for decorations." This is the Muslim Student Association's first year in the school, with plans to keep the MSA active for many years ahead.

Sophomore Vi Periquet enjoys the music with their friends. "I thought it was really fun, and even though there weren't many people there, we were still able to have an awesome time and enjoy ourselves," Periquet said. "The DJ was awesome!" The unique dance prioritized inclusivity, as students were given an option throughout the night to be more interactive with the music of their night. A QR code was stationed for students to submit song requests to the DJ, so that everyone got a chance to choose the music.

Madison Faulkner sings “Stand Up” by Cynthia Erivo to incorporate her tradition into a show that displays various student cultures. “[The song] is about slavery and how we, as Black people, had to fight for freedom,” Faulkner said. “When the audience clapped for me, it made me feel more at ease with my performance.” The talent show decided winners through both judge decisions and audience votes.

"With the flyers around school (asking for donations) students might double think about the clothes in their closet, and if there's something there that's been in there for months they think about how someone else may use it." The department hopes to play their part in encouraging fashion to be more sustainable.
