Grant Johnson, HTN Daily News Director

Grant Johnson is a Texas native who found his passion for storytelling at an early age after joining his community’s theatre.  Grant is a senior at Rock Hill High School and is the News Director of Hill Top News. In his free time, he works at a restaurant in town and hangs out with his family. Grant is a member of several of the top journalism teams in the United States: ILPC All-State Journalism Staff, Quill & Scroll National Student Advisory Panel, ATPI Imagemaker Team, and the TAJE Student Advisory Panel. Grant is so excited for the innovative things that Hill Top News will do this year and looks forward to connecting with the student body through the HTN Daily Live show and social media show, HTN Take One.

Sophomore Rami Shihabi dances at a pep rally as the only male on the Rockette drill team. He is the first boy to perform with the Rockettes. “The first time I saw Rami dance I was astounded at his ability to pick up movement,” junior Gracie Fisher said. “If the teacher told him to do something he would just go for it and nail it the first try. He is never afraid of a challenge.”

TEDx Speaker Collin Kartchner speaks with Grant Johnson and Beau Cormican after his presentation at the high school. Kartchner passed away from a life-threatening condition Oct. 20, 2020. “I started this movement three years ago because of my family friend who ended up dying from suicide,” Kartchner said in an interview following his speech. “Later we found out that so much of it had to do with the stress and anxiety from social media.”
