Marking the first anniversary of their annual fall cleanup at Northeast Park on Oct. 26th, Compostify hosted a trash pick-up event and a fundraiser in which students from across the community came together to clear litter and raise funds to support ongoing environmental initiatives.

Seniors Arya Batchala, Harsha Kannappan, Shreyas Manthri and Sowmya Velayutham reflect on their journey as a nonprofit, describing the accomplishments and challenges they have faced. 

While Compostify has been fruitful, Velayutham acknowledges the issues they’ve encountered along the way. Reflecting on these roadblocks, she provides insight into how Compostify plans to overcome them and shares her vision for future growth and sustainability.

As their composting program gains momentum, Kannappan details the other types of successes she hopes to achieve, from expanding their message to implementing chapters across schools and universities.
