The 58th Academy of Country Music Awards will take place this evening, May 11, at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco. The awards ceremony, hosted by country singers Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks, will be presented by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith, among others.

The ceremony will feature live performances by some of the biggest names in country music, such as Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert and many more.

“Ford Center at The Star in Frisco is not only the perfect location to house the Academy of Country Music Awards, but our entire campus and The Star entertainment district will be turned into the ultimate Country Music celebration that week, and we can’t wait to host all of the wonderful and exciting events that come with it,” Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said.

The ACM Awards ceremony is expected to draw in a large audience of country music fans from around the world and is set to be an exciting event with many surprises in store for the audience, as Raj Kapoor, the producer of the show, recently revealed to Sports Illustrated. 

“I can’t wait for people like Jerry Jones to walk in and say, ‘How did you put all this in this venue?” Kapoor said in an interview with Amaranthus. “It’s a massive show.”

In anticipation of the show, the ACM held a free fan festival at The Star in Frisco on Wednesday, May 10, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event featured live music, food trucks and more. 

Throughout the event season, Parton holds a pop-up store with her merchandise to celebrate the awards show. The store will be open until the end of Sunday.

“This is so great,” Parton said to a crowd of people at the opening of the store. “They did such a good job ‘cause it’s like walking into a museum.”

The ceremony will award several categories, including Entertainer of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, New Female Artist of the Year, New Male Artist of the Year, Duo of the Year, Group of the Year, Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year and Music Event of the Year.

“It’s going to be really an amazing night, especially seeing Dolly’s finale for the show, which will be the debut of her rock single from her rock album now that she’s been inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame,” ACM CEO Damon Whiteside said. “So, it’s going to be one of the biggest performances of her career.”

At a press conference on Tuesday, Parton hinted at exciting news to come.

“We have some surprises down the road,” Parton said. “But [being at The Star] means a lot because we always loved the Dallas Cowboys.”

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones built The Star in 2016 with plans of hosting major events. This year the ACM Awards, the longest-running country music awards show, will be the first major event held at the stadium, showcasing the venue’s versatility and grandeur.

“To be the country music capital of the world here for a week in May. The stars and entertainers are arriving as we speak,” Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney said.

Tickets for the show are available at SeatGeek. The ACM Awards show will be free to stream on Prime Video and the Amazon Music channel on Twitch starting at 7 p.m. CT.
